Background

In March of 2023, we founded C3E to reimagine what learning and organizational transformation could look like for leaders and staff in the institutions that directly impact the lives of the communities we care for the most.

In the early years of the center, we worked with local government leaders who felt stuck. Individual-level trainings aimed at addressing implicit bias weren’t impacting the organizational and institutional sources of marginalization, bias, and exclusion. These barriers created fatigue and stasis in local government, and organizational structures were often rigid and unresponsive to new and innovative reforms.

Motivated and visionary leaders at the head of local governments and other large public organizations wanted more than toolkits and one-off workshops; they wanted a realistic blueprint toward organizational change. So, we took our research-informed and learning sciences approach to organizational change and performance management and deeply collaborated with leaders who were ready to lead change.

Our approach has been informed from partnerships and collaborations with:
